In short, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has a lot of power and authority to make decisions that may affect the organisation and its employees. To understand what a CEO does, it’s important to know what a CEO is. CEO is the working title used to denote a person who is the chief of one or many companies. It is a common term used in large corporations and small businesses. As you step into the CEO’s shoes, you may think your role and responsibilities are cut and dry. A large part of it is, but only partially, as there are some finer details within your role as CEO that you should be aware of.

A CEO is usually the highest-paid person in an organisation because they have many responsibilities and extensive power to make decisions affecting the entire organisation. The CEO is responsible for setting an organisation’s vision, strategy, values, and culture and creating its overall direction. They must ensure that this vision is communicated clearly throughout the organisation so that everyone understands how they fit into their respective roles and what they need to do to achieve success.

The primary responsibility of a CEO is to manage all aspects of an organisation’s operation by setting goals and policies that will achieve those goals while also ensuring that business ethics are maintained within the corporation’s walls. The CEO must also ensure that all departments work toward a common goal. A CEO should clearly understand where his or her organisation is headed in terms of its long-term goals and objectives. They must articulate this vision clearly to employees, so they know how they fit into it. CEOs must also ensure that all employees buy into this vision by aligning their efforts. For example, an organisation’s long-term plan is to become more efficient at manufacturing products by developing better technology. In that case, each employee needs to know how their job contributes toward this goal. This allows each employee to focus on how they can contribute toward achieving it instead being more task-oriented without understanding the greater picture.

Implement Changes and Proposed Plans

In addition to setting goals, a CEO must also be responsible for implementing changes and proposed plans (or programs) within the organisation. This entails ensuring that proper resources are allocated where needed most, as well as regularly monitoring progress on these programs so that any problems can be quickly identified and resolved before they become too big of an issue. The CEO’s role does not stop at ensuring that employees meet their objectives; they must also ensure that employees feel valued by their company and are treated fairly throughout their employment with the organisation. This can be done through employee engagement surveys or one-on-one interactions.

Maintain Accountability With the Board

A CEO must report to a board of directors, who oversee major decisions made by the company. The board sets policy for the organisation and monitors its progress toward achieving strategic goals set by senior management. The board also sets compensation levels for executives such as CEOs and other members of senior management teams so they can be held accountable for their performance in meeting those goals.

Monitor Company Performance

The CEO monitors how well operations are performing on an ongoing basis by evaluating financial reports and business results against established goals. The CEO also ensures that all operations run smoothly by overseeing day-to-day operations within departments such as human resources, marketing or sales, and fiscal management.

A CEO must contribute to their company’s growth by increasing revenue or profits through strategic planning initiatives such as mergers or acquisitions or by working with other departments such as marketing or finance to create new products or services that will attract more customers. To achieve this goal, CEOs must be able to motivate employees to work harder than ever before in order to meet deadlines or complete projects successfully and on time.
