Privately Held | Medicaid-Funded Services | Mid-Atlantic Region – Confidential Executive Search
The Opportunity
We are seeking an accomplished, thoughtful Chief Executive Officer to lead a growing, privately held healthcare and human services company through its next stage of development.
With approximately $12 million in annual revenue, an established operating platform, and a recent expansion into a second state, the company is positioned to grow toward $20 million while continuing to strengthen the quality, consistency, and reach of its services.
We are looking for a leader who knows how to build a business—not simply manage one—and who brings sound judgment, financial discipline, operational depth, and a genuine appreciation for the people whose lives are affected by the decisions we make.
This is an opportunity for an experienced CEO who finds satisfaction in building strong teams, solving consequential problems, and creating an organization that performs exceptionally well for its clients, employees, and owners.
About the Company
We are a founder-led provider of Medicaid-funded home- and community-based services supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Operating in the Mid-Atlantic region, we have built our business around a straightforward commitment: deliver exceptional services, take on meaningful challenges, and create greater opportunity for the people and families who depend on us.
We believe that outstanding service quality and strong financial performance are mutually reinforcing. A well-run, honorably profitable business is better positioned to invest in its people, expand access to services, navigate uncertainty, and fulfill its commitments over time.
The company has an established leadership team, a strong commitment to regulatory compliance, and a growing portfolio of community-based services. Our next phase will focus on deliberate geographic expansion, service-line development, funding diversification, operational efficiency, and sustainable profitability.
As part of a planned leadership succession, the founder will transition from day-to-day management to Board Chair. The incoming CEO will assume full responsibility for leading the business, supported by an intentional transition and an ongoing, constructive relationship with the founder and Board.
The company’s identity will be disclosed to candidates who advance beyond the initial screening process.
The Role
The Chief Executive Officer will have responsibility for the company’s overall performance, including financial results, operational execution, service quality, regulatory compliance, organizational culture, and strategic growth.
This is a substantive operating leadership role. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable reviewing financial performance, developing executive talent, evaluating a new market, and engaging with state agencies or other key stakeholders.
The CEO will have authority over the operating plan, budget, executive team, organizational structure, and day-to-day business decisions. The Board will retain responsibility for ownership and capital matters, with long-term strategy developed collaboratively.
We value leaders who combine strategic perspective with a willingness to engage in the details. At our size and stage, disciplined execution matters as much as a compelling vision.

The Leader We Are Seeking
We are looking for a proven executive who has successfully led a business through meaningful growth and understands the discipline required to make that growth sustainable. The strongest candidates will bring a combination of business acumen, operational credibility, intellectual curiosity, and maturity of judgment.
They will understand that growth at this stage requires more than increasing revenue. It requires developing people, making well-chosen investments, building repeatable systems, protecting margins, and preserving what makes the organization successful in the first place.
We will be particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:
We are not seeking a leader whose experience is limited to setting strategy from a distance. This role calls for an executive who enjoys the work of building and improving a business.
Qualifications
Required
Preferred
Direct experience in intellectual and developmental disability services is highly valued but is not required for candidates with substantial Medicaid experience and a compelling record of operating and growing regulated service businesses.
Compensation and Benefits
We recognize that successfully leading this next stage requires an accomplished executive, and we have structured compensation to reward both effective leadership and measurable performance.
Why This Opportunity
This role offers a distinctive opportunity to lead an established company with a strong operating foundation, a clear growth ambition, and a long-term strategy the incoming CEO will help shape in collaboration with the Board.
We seek a leader who values understanding before change, brings the discipline to execute, and recognizes that meaningful innovation must be grounded in operational realities, regulatory considerations, and business judgment. The right CEO will build on what works, improve what can be better, and bring fresh perspectives that advance the company’s long-term success.
With meaningful room to grow, the incoming CEO will have the opportunity to continue building a strong leadership team and help shape a more capable, scalable, and enduring enterprise.
Application and Selection Process
Interested candidates should apply through the confidential application at ceo.envoynexus.com.
Candidates advancing through the process should expect substantive discussions regarding business strategy, financial management, operating judgment, organizational leadership, and experience navigating complex regulatory environments.
