The Opportunity
The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is a member of the executive leadership team and holds executive accountability for the overall performance, quality, financial sustainability, and strategic direction of all programs operated by Greenwich House and its two affiliates.
Working in close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial and Operating Officer, and Chief External Affairs Officer, the CPO ensures that programs fulfill the organization’s mission, meet contractual and regulatory obligations, use resources responsibly, and deliver meaningful outcomes for the communities they serve.
The CPO directly supervises and develops three vice presidents responsible for the organization’s diverse program portfolios. The successful candidate will be a strategic and financially astute leader who develops strong leadership teams, promotes collaboration across programs and administrative functions, and balances high expectations with compassion, flexibility, and respect for the people who do this work.
As a member of the executive team, the CPO shares responsibility for the overall success of Greenwich House and its affiliates. The team operates through mutual trust, respect, transparency, and a shared commitment to the mission. Each executive brings distinct expertise and perspective to organizational decisions. Through open dialogue, thoughtful listening, and constructive debate, the team works together to arrive at the best direction for the organization. When a clear direction does not emerge, the CEO makes the final decision, and the executive team supports the resulting course of action. The CPO is expected to prioritize organizational success over individual departmental interests and model this collaborative approach throughout the organization.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about people and wants to be part of a mission-driven organization making a lasting impact in New York City.
