PURPOSE OF ROLE

Lesedi Nuclear Services (Pty) Ltd is a multi-disciplinary EPC group operating across five divisions — Nuclear, Oil, Gas & Power, Industrial, Renewables & Grid and Services, in South Africa and abroad. We operate in a highly technically complex environment, and we are seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to steer the financial direction of the group at this level of complexity.

The CFO will have a broad mandate to oversee all financial aspects of the company across our divisional Profit & Loss (P&L) structures, serve as principal financial advisor to the CEO, EXCO and Board on all complex financial matters, and ensure that financial strategy aligns with our long-term objectives. This is a senior executive role and a standing seat on the Executive Committee, with regular interface into the Board and its sub-committees, shareholders, and financiers.

This strategic role demands not only financial acumen but also a willingness to go to ground level within divisions to identify areas of concern, a strong problem-solving mentality, and the executive leadership and interpersonal skills to manage complex issues — both internally and with clients, shareholders and other key stakeholders — while leading, developing and retaining a finance team of competent, high-performing professionals.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead all aspects of the company’s financial functions across divisional P&Ls, including monthly financial reporting, revenue management and cost analysis

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure legal and statutory compliance, including IFRS compliance, tax filings, STATS SA returns and B-BBEE audits
  • Maintain diligent oversight of financial audits, CIPC duties and compliance with regulatory bodies including FICA and SARB

Strategic and Operational Finance

  • Drive the treasury function, managing cash flow forecasts and the strategic management of debtors and creditors
  • Evaluate and advise on new business opportunities, tenders and potential acquisitions, ensuring competitive pricing and optimal investment strategies

Leadership and Stakeholder Relations

  • Lead, develop and performance-manage a finance team of competent professionals across the group, with a focus on capability-building and succession depth
  • Act as the primary financial interface for banks, financial institutions, auditors and regulatory authorities
  • Manage relationships with clients, investors and shareholders, ensuring transparent communication and effective resolution of complex issues

QUALIFICATION

  • CA (SA) or similar professional qualification (essential)
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate business qualification (advantageous)
  • Membership in good standing of a relevant professional body (e.g. SAICA)

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 10 years post-articles experience in the EPC environment
  • Supported by at least 5 years’ demonstrable experience in a senior finance leadership role (CFO, Finance Director or equivalent), with proven decisive leadership qualities and experience across multiple business units or P&Ls
  • Demonstrated experience engaging directly with a Board, shareholders and external regulatory bodies at a senior level
  • Practical experience applying IFRS 10 and IFRS 50
  • Strong tax and cross-border (international) experience
  • Proven experience in long-term forecasting
  • Experience in intercompany and subsidiary management
  • Proven experience in cash management
