Position Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive leader responsible for the financial stewardship, strategic planning, governance support, and long-term sustainability of Grey Eagle Resort & Casino (GERC).
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CFO serves as the principal financial advisor to the Board and Executive Leadership Team, providing leadership across financial operations, capital investment planning, enterprise risk management, business growth initiatives, and stakeholder relations.
The CFO plays a critical role in supporting the Board’s vision for sustainable economic growth while protecting and enhancing the assets of Grey Eagle Resort & Casino for future generations of the Tsuut’ina Nation.
The role oversees all financial functions and provides executive leadership for major capital projects, resort renovations, business development initiatives, financing strategies, and governance matters affecting the organization.
As one of the most senior leaders within GERC, the CFO must balance strategic thinking, operational understanding, financial discipline, and relationship-building with a diverse group of stakeholders including the Board of Directors, Tsuut’ina Nation leadership, regulators, financial institutions, development partners, and operational leaders.
Education and Experience:
- CPA designation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years progressive financial leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior executive role.
- Experience in hospitality, gaming, resort, entertainment, tourism, real estate development, or similarly complex operations.
- Experience reporting directly to a Board of Directors.
- Experience leading major capital projects exceeding $10M.
- Demonstrated success managing banking and financing relationships.
Preferred
- MBA or Master’s Degree.
- Experience working with Indigenous-owned organizations, governments, or economic development entities.
- Experience in a regulated gaming environment.
- Experience supporting Board committees and governance functions.

- Serve as the primary financial advisor to the Board of Directors.

The CFO will provide executive leadership for capital investment planning and project governance across the resort.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop long-term capital investment strategies.
- Oversee financial planning and governance for renovation and expansion projects.
- Lead financial evaluation and business case development for all major capital expenditures.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, risks, and return on investment.
- Ensure appropriate project controls and reporting mechanisms are in place.

- Participate in long-term master planning for Grey Eagle Resort & Casino lands and facilities.
- Evaluate future development opportunities through financial modeling and strategic analysis.

- Collaborate with Nation leadership, developers, consultants, and external advisors regarding future growth initiatives.

- Evaluate opportunities to enhance competitiveness and profitability.

iGaming Strategy, Financial Oversight & Business Development
- Provide executive financial leadership for the establishment, launch, growth, and ongoing financial performance of GERC’s iGaming business unit.
- Lead financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and business-case evaluation related to iGaming operations and strategic initiatives.
- Establish and oversee appropriate financial reporting, revenue assurance, reconciliation, treasury, payment processing, settlement, and internal control frameworks for iGaming activities.
- Develop and monitor key iGaming performance indicators, including Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR), Net Gaming Revenue (NGR), gaming margins, customer acquisition costs, promotional and bonus costs, player value, deposits and withdrawals, chargebacks, operating costs, and profitability.
- Work collaboratively with iGaming leadership, Compliance, Legal, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Marketing, and Operations to ensure appropriate financial governance and risk management.
- Ensure financial processes, controls, reporting, and recordkeeping support applicable regulatory requirements and GERC’s obligations to Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) and the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC).
- Provide financial oversight of banking arrangements, payment service providers, gaming technology providers, platform vendors, and other significant iGaming commercial relationships.
- Evaluate future iGaming products, partnerships, technology investments, and business expansion opportunities from a financial and strategic perspective.
