ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Information Technology Department (ITD) is a mission driven organization responsible for delivering secure, reliable, and innovative enterprise technology services that enable County agencies and departments to fulfill their public responsibilities. With 230 employees and an annual operating budget of over $100 million, ITD oversees countywide cybersecurity, data governance, enterprise platforms, application development, cloud services, network infrastructure, digital services, and a 24/7 operations center that supports critical systems across public safety, health, human services, property, and administrative operations.
ITD plays a pivotal role in advancing the County’s digital transformation, supporting improved service delivery, operational efficiency, and equitable access to technology. THE ROLE: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The CIO serves as the County’s top technology executive and department head for ITD. Appointed by the Board of Supervisors, the CIO provides strategic leadership, vision, and governance for all countywide technology services. The role directs, administers, and modernizes the full portfolio of enterprise information systems, cybersecurity, data governance, digital service delivery, and innovation initiatives to ensure effective, efficient, and secure use of technology resources across all County agencies and departments.

Overall, the ideal candidate is a forward-looking leader committed to equity, accessibility, and public service, capable of advancing the County’s reputation as one of the nation’s most innovative digital governments.
The ideal candidate brings either three (3) years of full-time experience as an Assistant CIO or Chief Technology Officer in the County or ten (10) years of increasingly responsible IT experience, including executive-level management of people and complex systems, leadership of enterprise infrastructure projects, experience with budgets, funding sources, and strategic planning.
