START DATE: JANUARY 2025 (or earlier subject to successful candidate’s notice period)
Franklin College is located on a modern and attractive campus in North East Lincolnshire, close to Grimsby town centre. The well-respected Sixth Form College has an excellent reputation for being a national leader in Sixth Form Education and the best provider in the Region. Franklin is an inclusive college with a firm belief in the value of effective partnerships that support student progress and success. The College has a particularly strong focus on teaching, learning and assessment and aims to enable every student no matter what their background, to achieve more than they ever thought possible. The College was recently inspected by Ofsted with the final report pending and due to be published in July 2024.
With approximately 1,700 full time 16-18 students and 500 part-time adult learners, Franklin offers the widest range of courses in the area, including A Levels, BTECs, CTECs, T-levels and GCSEs, and every year, about 90% of Franklin College students who apply for higher education gain a place at their first-choice university, with a significant number gaining places at prestigious universities across the country in addition to highly sought after apprenticeships, jobs and further training.
The College is well-resourced to meet the needs of all students, with subjects being taught in areas specifically designed to meet the requirements of post-16 study. There has been over £6 million invested in buildings and facilities in recent years including ‘The Bridge’, a university style learning space which opened in 2023, providing a state-of-the-art experience for students. The College is embarking on another £3.5 million new build project this year which will see the addition of eight new teaching rooms and a university style lecture theatre to accommodate significant projected growth.
Franklin College Governors are seeking to appoint an authentic leader with outstanding drive, commitment and enthusiasm to lead the College in the next phase of its growth and development, upon the retirement of our current Executive Principal and CEO, Peter Kennedy. The ideal candidate will be a senior leader in a Sixth Form College, a General Further Education College with a thorough understanding of 16-18 education, or a MAT with a substantial post 16 provision.
