Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Executive Director, the Chief of Staff oversees the activities of the Executive Office, assists the Executive Director with strategic priorities, and prioritize and monitor tasks related to the execution and implementation of a broad agenda.
The Chief of Staff serves as a trusted senior advisor to the Executive Director and acts in their place, as appropriate, including representing their in high level meetings and discussions. They will provide oversight on time sensitive issues and initiatives that include cross-functional, organizational, partnership and community dimensions. They are also responsible for building and sustaining an effective support structure for the site’s senior leadership team.
The Chief of Staff oversees a wide range of site functions to advance the site’s agenda and the mission of City Year.
Job Description
Mission of Position: The Chief of Staff oversees the activities of the People and Operations department and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team to advance the implementation of City Year 3.0 strategic plan and local site vision. The COS will assist the Executive Director with strategic priorities and prioritize and monitor tasks related to the execution and implementation of a broad agenda. They approach the work with a cross – functional (department, organization, and community) mindset and will assume primary responsibility for select projects and initiatives as directed.
The COS is a member of the site’s senior leadership team and serves as a trusted senior advisor to the Executive Director. When directed, the COS will serve in the Executive Director’s place by representing them in high level meetings and discussions. They will provide oversight on time sensitive issues and initiatives that include cross – functional, organizational, and community dimensions. They are also responsible for building and sustaining an effective support structure for the site’s senior leadership team.
