Chief Information Officer Full Time

At Wheeler Fleet Solutions, the CIO will lead a major ERP/WMS modernization, including an Infor M3 transition, while driving M&A integration and digital transformation initiatives.

This role demands a private equity value creation lens. A proven track record in integrating acquired companies, modernizing IT environments, leading ERP/WMS migrations from custom-developed systems to commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) platforms, and driving innovation through analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI). The CIO will play a critical role in building a scalable, cost-effective, and future-ready technology ecosystem that supports both organic growth and M&A integration.

Key Responsibilities

ERP & Application Strategy

• Lead ERP/WMS modernization (Infor M3/WMS strongly preferred) to deliver measurable EBITDA improvement and operational scalability.
• Rationalize applications to eliminate redundancies, improve interoperability, and reduce total cost of ownership.
• Ensure ERP/WMS integration with Microsoft 365, BI tools, HRIS/payroll, quality/compliance systems, and e-commerce platforms.
• Modernize IBM Power Systems (AS/400 / iSeries) and integrate with cloud platforms to improve agility and reduce dependency on legacy systems.

M&A Integration

• Drive IT due diligence, integration planning, and execution for acquisitions, with an emphasis on rapid value capture and standardization.
• Harmonize platforms, processes, and data structures across entities to accelerate scalability and improve margins.
• Migrate acquired companies from legacy systems within aggressive timelines and budgets to enable faster synergy realization.

Digital & Data Transformation

• Deploy advanced analytics, automation, and AI to improve decision-making, expand revenue streams, and drive margin expansion.
• Enforce enterprise-wide data governance to ensure quality, consistency, and accessibility across product, pricing, supplier, and customer domains.
• Leverage BI tools for predictive insights that directly support profitability and customer value.

IT Operations & Security

• Maintain a secure, reliable, and high-performance IT infrastructure across all sites to minimize downtime and safeguard business continuity.
• Oversee IT service delivery and vendor management to ensure maximum value and user satisfaction.
• Implement robust cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory compliance controls, and disaster recovery plans aligned with business risk tolerance.

Supply Chain & Distribution Technology

• Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to optimize demand forecasting, inventory management, and warehouse automation.
• Integrate customer/vendor ordering systems with fulfillment and financial platforms to improve accuracy and service.
• Support value-added services such as consignment, kitting, and custom labeling to strengthen competitive differentiation.

Team Leadership

• Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing IT team capable of thriving in a highchange, resource-lean, and results-driven environment.
• Implement workforce planning and upskilling programs for emerging technologies and future business needs.
• Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and innovation aligned with private equity speed-to-value expectations.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 12+ years of progressive IT leadership, including experience as a CIO, VP of IT, or equivalent role.
• Proven experience leading IT integration for acquired companies in the distribution or manufacturing sector.
• Hands-on leadership of ERP/WMS, middleware, and portal migrations from customdeveloped to COTS platforms.
• Strong background in ERP/WMS (Infor M3/WMS highly preferred) and enterprise systems management.
• Demonstrated success in system consolidation, application optimization, AI adoption, and digital transformation.

Technical Skills

• Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365, ERP, WMS, and departmental applications (e.g., Benchmark Gensuite, ETQ, PowerBI, Ceridian Dayforce, SiteAlive).
• Expertise in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, application integration, and AI/automation tools.
• Familiarity with ITIL or equivalent IT service management frameworks.

Preferred

• Infor M3 ERP – configuration, deployment, and integration with WMS and other enterprise platforms.
• Infor WMS – implementation, optimization, and integration with ERP, transportation, and order management systems.
• IBM Power Systems (AS/400 / iSeries) – operations, modernization strategies, and integration with contemporary cloud and COTS platforms.
• Experience with quality/compliance systems (ETQ, Benchmark Gensuite) and HRIS/payroll (Ceridian Dayforce or similar).

• Successful execution of IT integration plans for acquisitions within scope, budget, and timeline.
• Measurable cost savings and operational efficiencies from system consolidation, modernization, and AI implementation.
• Improved user satisfaction scores for IT services and applications.
• Compliance with security, uptime, and regulatory requirements.
• On-time delivery of technology initiatives aligned with business and PE value creation goals.
