If you are an experienced Chief Finance Officer, or are ready to become one for the first time, we are interested in you. The role spans three organisations (Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner) and is the statutory Chief Finance Officer (Section 151) for the Chief Constable. The role leads the joint team on all finance and payroll functions, ensuring the delivery of all statutory requirements whilst being a key member of senior leadership teams for the organisations to ensure that operational priorities are deliverable and affordable.
The variety of challenges mean there is never a dull moment. We have big ambitions to drive towards outstanding public services for the people of Northamptonshire. The Chief Finance Officer will have a pivotal role, working with operational colleagues and their colleagues within the Enabling Services, to help ensure that operational priorities can be delivered in the most efficient way.
We are looking for someone with exceptional technical abilities but are placing equal emphasis on being an outstanding leader, not only of the function but across an organisation. The Enabling Services functions (of which finance is one) have delivering exceptional customer service as the key driver for their existence and therefore strong communications skills are vital. If you are a values driven individual, with at least 5 years senior level accounting experience, then this is the role for you.

Recruitment and Selection Policy
Internal applicants who are at risk of redundancy or in need of redeployment and pass the selection process, will be offered the role over the remaining internal and external applicants.
Internal applicants must have line manager support prior to proceeding with an application.
Please be aware that the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and Northamptonshire Police are separate employers.
