Chief Executive Officer Full Time

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Founded in the early 1970s, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of the San Fernando Valley (NCADD-SFV) is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to providing multiple levels of substance-use disorder (SUD) outpatient treatment services to those in need of recovery, as well as education and prevention services to schools and the community regarding the disease of alcoholism and drug dependence/abuse and the negative effects abuse/addiction has on the individual, their family, and their community.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) oversees all aspects of the organization, including strategic planning, financial stewardship, corporate operations, human resources, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. Other key responsibilities include fundraising, grant solicitation, marketing, and community outreach. The CEO will lead a team of approximately 30 staff members. This position is a full-time leadership role responsible for ensuring the organization’s mission and vision are achieved while maintaining financial and operational excellence. CEO candidates will have experience with LA County Medi-Cal and federal Medicare programs and funding streams related to substance abuse treatment programming.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership

  • Lead strategic planning to align current and future programs with the organization’s mission.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Represent the organization in the community, enhancing its visibility and reputation by fostering partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders.
  • Supervise and collaborate with the management team, fostering a high-performing and engaged workplace culture.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define the organization’s mission, vision, policies, and strategic direction.

Financial and Operational Management

  • Oversee the fiscal integrity of the organization, including the development and management of an annual budget and quarterly financial reports.
  • Ensure adherence to the approved budget and optimize resource allocation.
  • Leverage technology to optimize program delivery, streamline operations, and enhance data collection and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and integrate innovative solutions to improve service delivery and organizational efficiency.

Fundraising, Marketing & Advocacy

  • Develop and secure funding through grants, donations, and other revenue streams to ensure long-term financial health.
  • Design and execute fundraising strategies, including grant solicitation and donor engagement, to achieve revenue goals.
  • Guide marketing efforts to effectively communicate the organization’s mission and impact to external audiences.
  • Advocate for policies and funding that support substance use disorder treatment and prevention programs at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Collaborate with policymakers, industry leaders, and coalitions to promote initiatives that align with the organization’s mission.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the field of substance use disorders by representing the organization in policy discussions and public forums.

Crisis Management

  • Anticipate and respond to organizational challenges, including financial uncertainties, staffing changes, and shifts in community needs.
  • Develop and implement crisis management strategies to ensure continuity of operations and the safety of staff and clients.
  • Act as a steady and composed leader during times of crisis, providing clear guidance to the organization and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, public health administration or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience with LA County Medi-Cal and federal Medicare programs and funding streams related to substance abuse treatment programming.
  • Five (5) years of senior management experience in the Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD) field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Board of Directors.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, inspire, and manage a diverse team.
  • Ability to develop high-level strategic concepts and planning.
  • Advanced financial management skills, including budgeting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to formulate and convey the organization’s strategic future to staff, board, and donors.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking abilities. Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to the overall community.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in engaging and motivating management teams.
  • Experience with generating revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Proven ability to manage crises and navigate challenging situations with resilience and adaptability.
  • Experience building relationships with donors, grant funders, and community stakeholders.
  • Solid organizational development skills (planning, delegating, program design, management).
  • Strong financial management skills (annual budgets, operating statements, analytics, decision making and reporting).
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of professional relationships.
  • Ability to represent the organization through speaking at public events.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to improve operations and program delivery.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range is $120,000–$130,000. The position is an in-office/hybrid position in Van Nuys, CA. A competitive benefits package is offered, including health, dental, and life insurance fully covered by NCADD-SFV for the employee; a 401(k) plan with employer contributions; and paid time off.
