Earthwatch is an environmental NGO with science at its heart. We drive the change needed to create a world where we live in balance with nature. Earthwatch Europe works with this range of stakeholders by using a unique blend of science and engagement – our approach is grounded in evidence and delivered through engaging and immersive experiences, which create knowledge and inspire action.

We are looking for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead Earthwatch Europe into a new phase in our history, using a unique blend of science and engagement to tackle some of the most urgent and complex environmental challenges of our age. You will lead and drive the implementation of our strategy in a way that has meaningful and lasting impact, engaging and influencing citizens, businesses and policy makers to take action. Our new Chief Executive Officer will be an inspiring leader with a real passion for environmental issues and sustainability.

The Candidate

• Recognised leader with proven expertise, experience, profile and networks in nature and/or environmental science.
• Proven experience of successfully leading a medium sized environmental NGO/civil society organisation/charity/social enterprise through a period of growth, whilst maintaining and improving financial  performance.
• Commitment, passion and energy to champion Earthwatch’s existing strategy and programmes and the role of citizen science in helping to tackle environmental challenges.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage an experienced charity management team and to work effectively with an engaged and experienced Chair and Board.
• Strong media, communications and relationship building skills and experience of using these to support growth, raise profile, develop partnerships and support fundraising.
• Aptitude, ambition and personal authority to take responsibility for and drive the effective implementation of Earthwatch Europe’s strategy to grow the organisation’s activities, diversify income, and deliver greater impact and influence.
